Varney Speedway
Welcome Race Fans!
Whether you are a fan of the fastest 1/4 mile in Ontario or have just visited us for the first time and plan to be back...this is your spot for news, commentary, updates and opinions.
2009 is underway and this season at Varney Motor Speedway is going to be one of the best ever in the 39 year history of the 'little track that could' . As many of you know, many tracks in the province are struggling with 'fan' attendance while enjoying larger 'car counts'. While Varney Speedway may not have as many cars in the pits as some other tracks, there is no question that fan attendance is not a concern.
For the 2009 season, the track owners have made a bold step to draw more race cars to the track and it's time to see what you all think. Varney Speedway is one of the few tracks left in Ontario that still runs Invitational Racing on the Sundays of the long weekends through the season. Add Varney's Fall Classic to the the mix and that totals five (5) invitationals this year. The purses for the Sunday Invitationals has been doubled this year! In addition, any driver who participates in all five (5) Invitationals and can post a victory in three (3) out of five (5) features (some restrictions apply, and can be viewed in the rules on varneymotorspeedway.com ) will also win an additional $1000.00! That is some serious scratch for grass roots stock car racing.
Varney prides itself in being a 'fans first' facitlity and think it's paying off for the drivers too. We've been able to raise pay outs for the drivers (the Fall Classic offers over $15 0000.00 in purse money), and have kept very popular promotions and kids programs as part of our weekly attractions.
Take a drive to another track and ask the drivers what it's like racing infront of a hundred or so fans and then ask them what it's like racing at Varney in front of a packed house. They will tell you they love it here so, the question is begged to be asked...why not race here every week?
What can Varney do to draw more racers? We have the 'fan-thing' aced, we need more cars?
All our divisions are popular and have sufficient enough car counts to make for exciting racing action on the track each week but, do we run too many divisions?
Let's see your opinions! Post them here for all to read. If you have any questions about the track, our promotions, drivers, staff or any other racing topics ask them here. We will do our best to give you the answers you need!
Let's go racing!
